LAND FOR SOLDIERS
AREA IN SOUTHLAND VALUABLE GIFT. DONATION EY SIR ROBERT ANDERSON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Sir Robert Anderson, Invercargill, has made a valuable gift of land at Invercargill for the settlement of returned servicemen, states the ActingMinister of Lands, Mr Barclay. It comprises 600 acres of first class land five miles from Dipton railway station.' The whole area is ploughable, is well subdivided and drained. It can be used for cereals and fat lamb production. The gift is conditional on the net revenue from the property being devoted to the assistance of servicemen's widows and orphans. Possession is being given at an early date and the Government will place the control of the property in the hands of the Land Settlement Board.
