MAURICEVILLE
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute, Miss R. Mortensen presided over a large gathering. Nominations were received for the committee for the ensuing year. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr W. Bird for the donation of a black sheep fleece. A letter of appreciation was received from one of the local soldiers overseas, in connection with a parcel forwarded by the Institute. The Institute' acknowledged with thanks donations from Messrs E. W. Cheetham and W. Bird, to the local soldiers’ parcel fund. A number of parcels are despatched every six w’eeks. The 21st anniversary of the Women’s Institute in New Zealand was celebrated by an open air meeting on the local croquet green. The competitions were won by Mrs C. Spackman .and Miss J. Larsen. The president welcomed the visitors and expressed the hope that the membership of the Institute would show an increase next year. The annual meeting will be held at the residence of the president at Mauriceville West. After the serving of refreshments the local Croquet Club was thanked for the use of their green. Personal. Mrs Ngaire Brash has left Mauriceville to reside in Auckland. Shop Day. Mesdames J. A. Baine and J. W. Milner will be in charge of the next chop day of the Red Cross Society. The support accorded the shop days is greatly appreciated by the organisers. (Other items of provincial news will be found on Page 4.)
