SERVICE OVERSEAS
♦ : SITTING OF APPEAL BOARD WAIRARAPA CASES. DISMISSALS AND ADJOURNMENTS. ’ A sitting of the No. 4A Armed Forces ! Appeal Board was held in Masterton today to deal with appeals in respect to service overseas. Mr H. B. Lusk (chairman) presided, and there were also present: Messrs F. R. Field and W. H. , Barry, and the secretary, Mr J. C. Corbishley. Mr I. S. Wauchop represented the Crown. The following cases were dealt with: Freeman George Jackson, stud shepherd, appeal lodged by Raymond Wilfrid Matthews, adjourned k) first sitting after May 1, 1942. . William Henry Burgess, farm hand (Director of National Service), dismissed, appellant not to be called prior to May 1, 1942. Frederick Desmond Alleyne Meredith, shepherd (William Alleyne Laird Meredith), adjourned sine die. Charles Henry Bell, farm employee (David Benge), adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard. Alan Douglas Fisher, farm hand (James Fisher), adjourned sine die. Sydney William Fisher, farm hand (James Fisher), dismissed, appellant not to be called prior to April 1, 1942. Stanley James Clifton, farm labourer (Stanley James Clifton and Herbert Berry Bayliss), adjourned sine die. Francis Edward Ward, farmhand (Herbert Ernest Ward), adjourned sine die. David Kennedy Carrick, farmer (David Butchart Carrick and David Kennedy Carrick), adjourned sine die. Harold Adam Montgomerie, farmer (appellant) and James Edward Montgomerie, farmer (appellant), adjourned until next sitting.
