STOCK MARKET
SALE AT ADDINGTON FALL IN FAT SHEEP PRICES. PORKERS SLIGHTLY DEARER. IBy Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 4. 1 At Addington today values for better lambs were unchanged, but scarcity caused a demand for the next class, which improved Is to Is fid a head. The fat lamb export schedule remained unchanged, a large proportion going to exporters at schedule prices., There was little quotable variation in the whole market. Fat sheep at the opening were approximately a shilling a head cheaper, and the price fell another 6d later. Prime young ewes maintained values, but over-fat sorts were hard to quit. Exporters operated freely for lightweight ewes, maintaining values near schedule. Good steers declined about 15s a head, medium weight prime steers a shade less, and other classes a full 15s. In the fat pig section porkers were slightly dearer. The yarding of baconers was double that of last week. Values were easier by 4s to 5s a head. MASTERTON SALE FORWARD LAMBS IN DEMAND. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows in their Masterton sale yesterday:—Lambs again made up the bulk of the heavy yarding of sheep that was offered at yesterday’s Masterton sale. Good forward lambs were in strong demand. The b.f. lambs were not quite up to the standard of last week, but some really first-class w.f. lambs were sold. Medium and small lambs were slightly easier. A few wethers were offered which made late rates. Several pens of old ewes created little interest. There was very limited competition for fat sheep. , The following are realisations:—B.F.
