The official radio said that Mis Liang Hon-tsao, who is the wife of a Chinese public official, and who escaped from Hong Kong disguised as a servant girl on January 15, said that after the fall of Hong Kong the British and Americans were crowded into three hotels, as many as 10 persons to a single room. Visitors were not allowed except on gendarmes permits. All property, including food- and automobiles, was confiscated. On January 15 the water service was restored, but not the electrical services. After the fall of Hong Kong 800.000 bottles of whisky were destroyed. The scorched earth methods were carried out at the suggestion of the women.
