EGYPTIAN CRISIS

WAFDISTS MAY FORM MINISTRY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 3. A meeting took place on Monday afternoon between King Farouk and the British Ambassador, Sir Miles Lampson, according to Press messages from Cairo. It is officially stated in Cairo that consultations concerning the constitution of the new Cabinet will begin today. Following a visit by the secre-tary-general of the Wafdist party to the chief of the Cabinet, there are rumours in Cairo of the possible formation of a Wafdist Ministry, or at least of the party’s sharing the responsibility of government. The Wafd party has the largest popular following of any of the Egyptian parties, but because it refused to participate in the last general election it has virtually no representation in Parliament.
