BOWLING CLUB COMPETITION GAMES. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following additional games have been played in the Carterton Bowling Club’s competitions:— Colts’ singles: D. A. Goulden beat A. Adams, 24/11: E. A. Pankhurst beat D. A. Goulden, 21/9. Senior singles championship: W. Martin beat W. H. Whyte, 27/19. Champion pairs: C. Larsen and W. Sorensen (s) beat A. Thompson and Riggs (s), 21/16. Progressive pairs: Irwin and Riggs fs) beat Kilmister and Callender (s), 32/23. Entertainment of Soldiers. Ladies who were appointed to assist the Y.M.C.A. in entertaining soldiers are doing their work in a most creditable manner, and their efforts are greatly appreciated. A concert is being arranged for the weekend. Scarcity of Bicycles. Since the petrol restrictions there has been a great demand in Carterton for bicycles, and consequently there is an acute shortage. It is interesting to note the number of old models that have been brought into use, many having been stored away for years in sheds. Sports Not to be Held. The Ahiaruhe-Ponatahi Sports Club has decided, owing to the war and petrol restrictions, not to hold the annual sports meeting this year. REGENT THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. Tonight's prograrhme will provide another comedy that is better than “Buck Privates,” when those outstanding comedians, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, will be seen in “In the Navy.” (Approved for Universal Exhibition).
