An Air Ministry communique states: “Late yesterday afternoon, off the coast of Brittany, Beaufort aircraft of the Coastal Command attacked an enemy tanker escorted by patrol vessels. It was not possible to observe the result of the attack. Two of our aircraft are missing.”
