RECREATION ROOM DECISION OF PUBLIC MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) A. public meeting was held in the Town Hall last evening to discuss matters in connection with the establishment of a recreation room for soldiers. Mr J. W. Card (Mayor) occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance. It was decided to take the old District High School building for use as club rooms for soldiers. A committee was elected as follows: Mrs Saunders, Miss Jean Donald. Messrs Hunter, F. Clark. R. Hardy. Lowell. A. C. Pearce, J. Bidwill. Cassidy, and the members of the patriotic executive committee. A sub-committee was also formed consisting of Mesdames Riddiford. Shepherd, Miss J. Dcnald, Dr. G. S. Sharp, Messrs J. W. Card and N. C. C. Shepherd. Patriotic Euchre Party. The weekly euchre party to raise funds to purchase twine with which, to make camouflage nets, was held on Wednesday in the Odd Fellows’ Hall. Mr P. Habib was the organiser. The winners of the competitions were: Cards: Mrs Worsley; chocolates. Miss Janet Lawson; lucky spot, Miss June Card. The lamb donated as a prize for the past four weeks was given by Mr R. ( W. Matthews. Mr Cliff Wilkinson will provide the lamb for the next four weeks. The patriotic committee acknowledge with thanks the donation of a weekly supply of meat from Mi’ Harold Cundy. Donations of meat have also been received from Mrs Riddiford and Mr R. R. P. Hardy. Personal Items. Miss Margaret Lawson has returned from a visit to Ashhurst. Miss Flossie Saba returned yesterday from a holiday spent in Wairoa. Mrs J. C. Varnham, who has been visiting Napier and Havelock North, returned home yesterday. COSY THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. Tonight there will be shown one of the best comedies ever brought to the screen—“ Mexican Spitfi/e Out West,” with Lupe Velez, Leon Carroll. Cecil Kelleway and Donald Woods in the leading roles. (Approved for Universal Exhibition.) The associate feature is “Public Deb. No. 1,” featuring Mischa Auer and Elsa Maxwell. (Approved for Universal Exhibition.)
