On the southern front Soviet troops in one day recaptured 40 more localities. Russian reports speak of ski detachments operating 100 miles beyond the German lines. “Red Star” reports that Soviet troops are vigorously advancing on the Kalinin front, splitting the German troops into isolated groups and then destroying them. Seventytwo degrees of frost Fahrenheit is common from Kursk to Leningrad, and in some sectors even 90 degrees of frost.
