WEDDING

LITTLE—KJAR. At St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, recently, Reita Valencia, only daughter of Mr and Mrs H. J. Kjar and grand-daughter of Mr L. Kjar, Masterton, and the late Mrs Kjar, was married to Gilbert William, eldest son of Mr and Mrs G. Little, Palmerston North. The church was prettily decorated by Mrs A. Rosvall. The bride wore a gown of ivory slipper satin and lace. The bodice was fastened at the back with small satin buttons, the heart-shaped neckline being finished with posies of orange blossom, while the leg-o-mut-ton sleeves were inset with godets of lace. The slim-fitting skirt fell to form a long fern-shaped train also inset with lace godets. Her veil, which was lent by a friend, Mrs H. Sheerin, was of tulle beautifully embroidered in true lover’s knots. This was kept in place with a coronet of miniature arum lilies and orange blossom and fell softly to form a second train. A sheaf bouquet of Christmas lilies and maid-en-hair fern completed a most charming toilette. In attendance were four ’bridesmaids. Misses Lillian Prior and Joyce Little were daintily frocked in lilac and apricot taffeta, respectively. Misses Norma Evernden (Masterton) and Pearl Gibson (Wanganui) were attired, respectively, in apricot and lilac-corded taffeta dresses, these being made with full skirts, empire bodices and lantern sleeves. They each wore an unusual headdress, this being heartshaped taffeta shirred to match the sleeves and finished with shoulder length veils to tone. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr lan Little, as best man. Mr Maurice Kjar was groomsman. A reception, at which Mr and Mrs Kjar and Mr and Mrs Little received and entertained one hundred guests, was held later. The usual toasts were honoured. Many congratulatory telegrams were received, including a cable from Private Ross Carlson, who is with the Middle East Forces. Prior to her marriage the bride was entertained a't a gift afternoon by Misses Hazel Carne and Pearl Goodwin at the home of Mr and Mrs Carne, Cook Street, Palmerston North.
