OBITUARY
—— MR A. PHILLPOTTS. The death occurred today of a wellknown Wairarapa resident in the person of Mr A. Phillpotts, of Masterton. Deceased was born in Monmouth, England, in 1868, and came to New Zealand 50 years ago, having resided for most of that time in the Wairarapa. He lived for many years at Carterton, where he ' was in business as a bookseller, retiring about ten years ago and taking up his residence in Masterton. Deceased took a keen interest in cricket, having played for many years for the Carterton senior team and the Wairarapa representatives: Of late years he has acted as an umpire in Masterton. He was also a prominent Freemason. He is survived by his widow, one son (Mr A. Phillpotts, of Gisborne), and one daughter (Mrs J. P. Johnston, of Coradine Street).
The funeral will take place on Friday, leaving the residence of'his daughter, Mrs J. P. Johnston, after a service at the house at 2 p.m., for the Masterton cemetery.
