NEW BATTLESHIP

H.M.S. DUKE OF YORK NOW IN SERVICE. CARRIED MR CHURCHILL TO AMERICA. LONDON, January 25. Britain's newest battleship, H.M.S. Duke of York, carried Mr Winston Churchill to the United States on his visits last month. This announcement is the first indication ' that the sister-ship to H.M.S. Prince of Wales and H.M.S. King George V was in active service.

She was launched in 1939, two weeks before war was declared. Two other vessels, the Beatty and the Jellicoe, were due to have been completed last month. All the ships carry ten 14-inch guns.
