BEACH TRAGEDY
YOUNG MAN DROWNED. ATTEMPTING TO RESCUE CHILDREN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.' AUCKLAND, January 26. In attempting to help two children who were in difficulties in a strong undertow at Murawai Beach yesterday afternoon, Richard Hopkins,. aged 21, Avondale, was drowned. S. W. Jones, Huapai, first went to the rescue of the children, but found it difficult to hold them. Hopkins went to his assistance but disappeared. The other four persons in the water reached the shore.
