HERD TESTING WAIRARAPA RETURNS. (“Times-Age” Special.) ' The Government report on pedigree Friesians under official test in Novem- ’ her shows many excellent returns. ’ Koromiko O.K. Lass, a junior 3-year-old, owned by M. J. Parker. Dalefield, : has 75.76 lb. fat for November, and a • total of 397.49 lb. fat for 151 days on 1 test. On G.0.H.T., the thirty top Friesians averaged 77.7 lb. fat, the highest producers including Turepo Topsy Inka, 1863 lb. milk, 91.28 lb. fat (owned by C. ; A. Knutson, Dalefield) and Tarata Abl bekerk De Koi, 1851.0 lb. milk, 85.14 lb. fat (L. S. Gallon, Dalefield). Persona! Items. Miss Effie Waterson, daughter of Mr D. Waterson, Lincoln Road, Carterton, underwent an operation for appendicitis at the Greytown Hospital, and is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. Mr and Mrs Stan Green, of Belvedere Street, who are leaving for Levin after having resided in Carterton for many years were entertained by a large number of friends on Friday evening at the Bandroom. The time , was spent in competitions and dancing. . and at a suitable interval Mr B. Roberts, on behalf of all those present, handed to the guests a well filled envelope. Mi’ Roberts referred to the splendid personal qualities of their guests. He wished them good luck and good health in their new abode. Mr Green suitably returned thanks. Supper was provided. At Friday’s meeting of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society, a vote of condolence was passed to tjie relatives of the late Mr Benjamin R. Rayner. Mr and Mrs H. T. Leete, who had spent a holiday in the South Island, have returned to Carterton. Miss Elsie Martin, who recently sold her well-known farm. “Waitangi,” Moreton Road ,expects to leave for Wellington early in February. She is at present residing in Victoria Street, Carterton. W.D.F.U. The Bandroom, Carterton, was well filled on Saturday evening, when the members of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held a card party and dance in aid of funds for soldiers’ comforts. .The winners of the cards were Mesdames Page and Bambry, and Messrs J. Archer and Wadsworth. Miss Mary Herrick provided the dance music, and an extra was played by a soldier. Mr Cliff Bambry made an efficient M.C. Mrs H. Hodder and her committee are to be complimented for their action in providing entertainments to raise funds for soldier comforts. Black Out Regulations. Mr George Brown, lighting controller for the Wairarapa, is busy sending out notices to residents of the Carterton borough and district regarding the blacking out of residences and street and shop lights. Residents wil help the controller and the chief warden for Carterton, Rev. W. F. Stent, considerably by promptly carrying out the instructions they receive. Heavy Rainfall. On Saturday a very heavy downpour of rain was recorded in Carterton, and the water tables in the town were unable to carry the water. In Belvedere, Holloway and Wakelin Streets, the water reached nearly to the crown of the road. Later on a similar fa 1 ! of fl rain was experienced. ■ Dance at King's Theatre. ■ There was a good attendance at the dance held in the King*s Theatre on Saturday night, and-a most enjoyable time was spent. Excellent music was provided by Mrs V. J. Ashton’s Orchestra. REGENT THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. Cecil B. De Mille’s mighty adventure romance film, “North-West Mounted Police,” will be screened tonight,- with Gary Cooper and Madeleine Carroll in the leading roles. (Approved for universal exhibition.)
