CARELESS TALK
MUST BE AVOIDED. LEAKAGE OF INFORMATION. (Received This Day, 12.35 p.m.) CAPE TOWN, January 25. The public must avoid careless talk about movements of shipping, in view of the vital importance of South African ports at the present stage of the war, said Rear-Admiral Budgen, officer-in-charge of the naval base at Simonstown, broadcasting. There was evidence, he said, of a constant leakage of information from South Africa, which could be traced to irresponsible gossip.
