The war corresponds, fed up with his duties after three years abroad, cabled his resignation to his managing editor and caught the next clipper plane back to America. Questioned about his plans, the weary scribe stated that he and his wife would take a vacation bfore he wrote the customary book. Someone asked where they were going. “Well, we’re going to paste a big picture of Hitler on the outside of the car,” he replied, “and drive until someone says, ‘Who’s that?’ That’s where we’re stopping!”
