SALE AT TRENTHAM. HIGHEST PRICE 900GNS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. As was only to be expected, world conditions and the absence of Australian competition affected the 16th National sales of yearlings, which opened at Trentham yesterday. Auckland buyers were active, and they purchased no fewer than 30 lots, including the highest price. Mr W. S. Goosman, M.P., of Morrinsville, was an active buyer, taking four lots, including the 900gn. colt by Foxbridge— Astarth, who topped the day’s list. He also paid 600gns for the filly by Foxbridge —Eager Rose, 480gns. for the full-brother to Salutation, and 310gns for the colt by Lang Bian—Romarin. F. Smith, of Takanini, secured the Bulandshar —Legality colt for 600gns, and paid 230gns for the colt by Man’s Pal from Cock Eye. P. E. Pope, also of Takanini, was the last bidder at 375gns for the colt by Vermeer — Speedmint, and he later secured it privately at 500gns. J. A. McDougall, Martinborough, secured a EulandsharRoman Scandal colt offered on account of J. G. Alexander, Wanganui, for 700 gns.
A. and J. Gray, Masterton. disposed of a Foxlight—Revinella colt for 165 gns., and a Foxlight—Magnitude filly for 115 gns. AMr Standfast—Gala Night colt was sold by I. R. Donald, Featherston, for 370 gns., and a Solicitor General —Kotou filly by J. G. and I. R. Donald, Featherston, for 90 gns. G. W. Brandon, Featherston, sold a Crou-pier-Miss O’Dille colt for 100 gns.
