COMPILATION IN AUSTRALIA. NEW CONTROLLER APPOINTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day. 12.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE. This Day. Mr W. C. Wurth has been appointed Director-General of Manpower in the Federal Government’s new system of industrial control, which involves the regimentation of industry. Mr Wurth at present is chairman of the New South Wales Public Service Board and Federal Director of Manpower Priorities.

One of his first duties will be the compilation of a new national register. This will probably embrace the Services as well as the civilian population and will include persons of independent means who are not doing war work.
