ANNIVERSARY DAY

OBSERVANCE AS HOLIDAY IN MASTERTON. Anniversary Day, which falls next Thursday ,is to be observed as a holiday by Masterton retailers. At a general meeting of members of the Masterton Retailers’ Association this morning, a decision to this effect was arrived at unanimously. The following resolution was also passed: “That in order to prevent confusion with regard to future holidays, where a definite pronouncement is made by a Minister acting on behalf of the Government, such pronouncement should override the granting of any holidays which are provided for in existing awards.”
