DIRECT HIT ON JAPANESE WAR VESSEL.
(British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) RUGBY, January 16.
In the course of the attack on Tarakan, a Dutch coastal battery, besides sinking two Japanese destroyers and doing other damage scored a direct hit on either a Japanese cruiser or destroyer. The Japanese bombed the aerodromes at Amboina and Medan in Sumatra.
