REGENT THEATRE
“PENNY SERENADE.” One of the most pleasurable screen treats of the year, according to Hollywood report, is Columbia’s new romantic drama, George Stevens’s "Penny Serenade,” which will be shown tonight. With Irene Dunne and Cary Grant excitingly starred, "Penny Serenade” is a romance, that is everything a love story should be. Based on Martha Cheavens’ novel, "Penny Serenade” tells of an irresponsible newspaperman and of his wife, of their first ecstatic meetings, of their honeymoon and its conclusion in near tragedy, of their later struggles to build a home and happiness, and of the disaster which causes the man to revert to his old, irresponsible self and the woman to plan a divorce. The featurettes will include a “March of Time” dealing with the crisis in the Atlantic.
