CAPTURE OF LAPAO ANNOUNCED

Six Hundred Japanese Killed in Fighting CLEARING ENEMY OUT OF AREA (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Dav, 12.10 p.m.) CHUNGKING, January IG. A communique states that Chinese troops today captured Lapao, thirty miles north-west of Canton. Six hundred Japanese were killed in the fighting. The Chinese have now cleared the area between the Milo River and Changsha completely of Japanese. Many Japanese were drowned in the icy water while fleeing across the Milo River. The Chinese forces are now fifteen miles from Yochow.
