Japanese Remnants Rounded Up

ADVANCE NEARING ENEMY’S MAIN BASE LONDON, January 15. Today’s Chinese communique states that the last enemy remnants in the Changsha area have now been rounded up. Chinese troops have advanced to within 15 miles of Yochow, the main Japanese base between Changsha and Hankow. An important gain has been made in Hupen Province, and also north of Canton, where the Japanese have attempted counterattacks against the forces threatening the city. In South China, the Chinese have attacked the CantonKowloon railway and have destroyed ten sections of the line.
