MOBILE FORCE

PREPARATION IN BURMA f USE OF SUPPLIES INTENDED FOR CHINA. CHIANG KAI-SHEK AGREES. LONDON, January 12. The Rangoon correspondent of the “Daily Express” says that as the result of an agreement signed by the of Burma, Sir Hugh Dorman Smith, and General Chiang Kai-shek, the British Army in Burma will soon become one of the hardest hitting mobile forces in the Far East. Under the agreement a proportion of the mass of'war material from America which is piling up in Burma on the way to China will be freed for the use of the British troops. Material has been arriving in Burma faster than it could be cleared by the Burma road. General Chiang Kai-shek readily agreed to hand over some of the material, as he realised that his compliance was essential for the protection of his own back door. Our forces will thus be capable of activities which may stagger the Japanese. INDIAN GUERILLAS DOING EFFECTIVE WORK IN MALAYA. BEHIND ENEMY LINES. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.47 a.m.) RUGBY, January 13.

Indian guerillas are being specially trained and equipped for working effectively behind the enemy lines in Malaya, according to a New Delhi message. One report states that they are incessantly harassing enemy transport

and supplies. The activities of these guerillas, who include Muslims, Gurkhas and Dogras, are proving a considerable help to the movement of Imperial troops.
