Mrs Alistair Buchanan, New Plymouth, is visiting her mother, Mrs H. J. W. Lord, Essex Street, Masterton. Mrs E. C. Perrott, Waikato, is staying with Mrs F. C. Daniell, Essex Street, Masterton. Mrs Hylton Brisco, and Miss M. Brisco, Te Ore Ore, are visiting Wellington. Mrs R. J. Young, Auckland, and Mrs Sholto Lamb, Wellington, are visiting Masterton. and are staying at the Midland Hotel. Mrs M. Clarkson and Mrs T. A. Bourke, of Patea, are visiting Masterton and are the guests of the Misses Hogg, Church Street. After 38 years’ service on the bench, the senior magistrate of New Zealand, Mr H. A. Young, has retired. Mr Young has served on the bench at the Christchurch Magistrate's Court for the past 16 years. Before that he served in Dunedin, Central OJago, and Hamilton. Before he received his New Zealand appointment 33 years ago, he was for five years magistrate in the Transvaal, South Africa, and for two years before that, Public Prosecutor.
