STOCK MARKET
CARTERTON SALE. Messrs Wright, Stephenson & Co., Ltd., report:—We held our first sale of the year in the Carterton yards yesterday. Only a small entry came forward. The sheep entry comprised chiefly cull lambs which sold above expectations. Springing cows and heifers sold well, while fat and store cows were slightly easier. Pigs met with a fairly good demand and all wore disposed of at good money. The following are prices:— Pigs: Baconcrs, £3; porkers. £2 3s ’to £2 17s; light porkers, 27s to 395; stores, 31s; slips, 26s to 28s; weaners (good), 18s 6d to 255; weaners (small), 14s to 17s. Sheep: Fat lambs, 20s to 225: fat ewes, 10s to Ils 6d; wethers, 16s; w.w. lambs, 8s 6d to Ils 8d; ewe lambs. 10s 5d to Ils 3d; b.f. lambs, 12s 6d; fat sheep, 17s to 245. Cattle: Spg. heifers, £7 ss; spg. cows, £lO 15s; fat cows, £2 5s to £4; heifer r.w.b., £3 7s; cows, £3 5s to £6 10s.
