MANAWATU GORGE

SLIPS CLEARED. FOR ONE-WAY TRAFFIC. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, January 8. The slips that have been blocking the Manawatu Gorge for the past few days have now been cleared to the extent of enabling one-way traffic to proceed, care being necessary. It is not anticipated that further falls may occur. Culverts have been cleared and water has got away well, allowing certain difficult points on the road to be safely negotiated.
