KOPUARANGA

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE FEDERATION BIRTHDAY PLANS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute' was held in the local hall yesterday. Mrs Jarrett presided over a small attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Brophy and Cottle. The meeting opened with the Ode, Aspirations and prayer for peace. The treasurer’s report showed a very satisfactory balance.

The roll call, "My Favourite Recipe,” was answered by all present. It was decided to have a display of work at the February meeting which will take the form of a social afternoon to celebrate the 21st birthday of the Dominion Federation. The Kopuaranga W.I. birthday, which is normally held in February, has been postponed until April. Hostesses for next month will be Mesdames O'Connor and Trass. The president took the opportunity of welcoming members back after the holidays, and of presenting a silver spoon and pusher to baby Beyerley Trass. Mrs Trass thanked the members for their gift. A finished pullover was handed in for the Merchant Navy. Afternoon tea was served by the hostess, Miss L. Fenemor. Mrs Jarrett gave an interesting demonstration on making jug covers. The results of the monthly competitions were as follow: — Best bloom: Miss Wright 1; Miss Fenemor 2; Mrs Wright 3. String gloves: Mrs Wright 1; Mrs Jarrett 2. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
