French sabots or wooden shoes areno novelty. In the markets, in the fields, even in the fishmongers’ shops in Paris they are worn. Few Parisians, however, expected to see them in the chic, up-to-the-minute salons of the Paris dressmakers. Evidently the Nazis have helped themselves to all the leather, and the French have to use the wood. But the French designer is never at a loss, and the latest wooden shoe styles are said to be intriguing.
