Many persons were killed and wounded during demonstrations at Vucov, in Carpathian Ruthenia, formerly eastern Czechoslovakia, which the Hungarians occupy. The demonstrations were caused through requisitioning of food by special squads, and gendarmes and troops fired on the protesting people. Guerilla warfare is developing in Ruthenia. Partisans stopped a Hungarian military train, put the engine cut of action, and unloaded ammunition, food and winter clothing. Another group blew up nine petrol tankers.
