“THE GHOST OF ST. MICHAEL’S.” In “The Ghost of St. Michael’s,” which will be shown tonight, Will Hay not only makes a welcome reappearance, but also plays once more the role which has made him famous —his know-nothing, windbag, down-at-heel schoolmaster. The background is the topical one of St. Michael’s temporarily evacuated to a haunted castle on a lonely Scottish isle, the plot revolving round a spy’s signalling to U-boats, in the course of which two headmasters are murdered. The theme gives the star a non-stop succession of opportunities to fully exploit his laugh-provoking prowess. The boys make a butt of Mr Lamb (Will Hay) and all his fellow-masters, with the exception of vacuously-blah-d junior master (Claude Hulbert).
