BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIPS CONTESTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Further games in the Carterton Bowling Club's championship competitions have been played as under:— Singles: Sorensen defeated Beaven, 26/18. Pairs: Larsen and Sorensen (s) defeated Smith and Underhill (s), 26/13. Lambs for Freezing. About fifteen wagons of fat lambs left the Carterton railway station for Ngahauaranga this morning. Mushrooms. The rain and the warm ground conditions have brought forth a good crop of mushrooms in parts of the Carterton district. It is unusual to obtain mushrooms at this time of the year. Cocksfoot Grass Seed. Cocksfoot grass seed which will be greatly in demand this year is being cut in various parts of the district, and if the weather continues fine gangs of men and school children will be kept very busy fot’ some time. Seed that has already been harvested is clean and of good quality. Waingawa Freezing Works. The fourth chain commenced operations at the Waingawa Freezing Works this morning. Large consignments of lamb from North and South Wairarapa are arriving at the works daily. Personal Items. Mr C. C. Callender, who spent the New Year holidays at Paraparaumu, has returned to Carterton. REGENT THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. Screened tonight will be the ace comedy of the year, “Old Bill and Son,” starring Moreland Graham, John Mills, Rene Ray, and Mary Clare. (Recommended by the Censor foi- adults).
