HARMONY OF VIEWS

BRITAIN AND RUSSIA MESSAGES EXCHANGED. KING AND M. KALININ. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright ) LONDON, January 3. President Kalinin sent the following telegram to the King: “Will your Majesty please accept heart-felt good wishes for the New Year and for the success of your armed forces, already well tried in battle. Harmony in views on the main problems of the struggle with the common enemy has been strengthened during Mr Eden's visit to Moscow. That unity of views is the best guarantee of our victory and the success of our joint action after the war in the interests of ourselves and of all freedom-loving nations.” Moscow radio also broadcast the text of the message from the King to M. Kalinin. “Please accept best wishes for the New Year and for the continued success of the brave Soviet armies, which have already done so much to bring nearer the clay of defeat of the common enemy. I am happy to learn of the negotiations between Mr Eden and the Russian leaders. The harmony of views characterising the conversations will strengthen the alliance between our people in the war and the organisation of peace after the war.”
