The result of the Canterbury Handicap, 4.29 class, two miles, at the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting yesterday was: 5/6 Nelson Eddy 1, 1/2 Springfield Globe 2, 13/10 Kenworthy 3. Time, 4.17 1-5. Gold Bar, in his trial against time, paced one mile in 1.59 3-5 at Addington yesterday, thus being the first New Zealand-bred pacer and the second in the Southern Hemisphere to covei’ eight furlongs in two minutes, or faster. The record of 1.59 2-5 for Australia and New Zealand is held by Lawn Derby, an Australian horse, who took his record at Addington in 1938.
