REACHED IN NORTH HUNAN BATTLE JAPANESE THROW IN HEAVY FORCES. BUT ARE BEING ATTACKED IN REAR. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, Noon.) CHUNGKING, January 1. The battle in North Hunan has entered on a critical stage, reports the Central News. The Japanese have thrown in 50,000 men south of the Milo River and are engaging the Chinese in the vicinity of Changsha, while Chinese outflanking forces have retrieved more than twenty populated villages in the Hunghiang River region, in the Japanese rear.
