DECISIVE PLAN

SHAPED FOR PACIFIC IMPROVING DEFENSIVE CAPACITY. AND ALLIED STRIKING POWER. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY, December 30. The “Sun’s” Melbourne correspondent says that the Allies have decided upon a decisive plan for the Pacific which will improve enormously Australia’s defensive capacity and the Allied striking force against the Japanese. The correspondent adds that a message outlining the plan was received today by the Prime Minister, Mr Curtin, from Mr Churchill. Details cannot be disclosed, but, according to Federal Ministers, greater American aid for Australia will be forthcoming.

The whole outlook is thus brightened considerably. Ministers are convinced that Mr Curtin’s- blunt and direct presentation of Australia’s case has been a powerful factor in bringing about the latest decisions for the defence of the Pacific, Australia and New Zealand.
