BOWLING CLUB CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following additional games have been played in club competitions: — Champion singles: Sorensen beat Barber, 19/13. . Champion pairs: Kilmister and Barr ts) beat Colson and Stent (s), 17/16. pairs: Beaven and Riggs (s) beat Newbould and Tucker (s), 26/18; Irwin and Harrington (s) beat Kilmister and Hughan (s), 28/25. Petrol restrictions and the unsuitable bus timetable has resulted in no entries being received from Carterton and Lower Valley towns for the Wairarapa Bowling .Centre’s tourney which will open on the Masterton and Park greens on Thursday. ORDER OF DRUIDS . MEETING OF TOTARA LODGE. Arch Druid Brother H. Murrell presided over the meeting of Totara Lodge No. 3 held last night, there being a fair attendance of members. Two declarations off the sick funds of the lodge were received. Favourable reports on sick members were made by the sick visitors, after which the sum of £l9 Ils was passed for sick pay which included £lO 15s social security sick benefit, on account of two members. The secretary' advised that he had received from the Director General of Health the necessary forms on which to make application for refund of medical expenses under the Social Security Adt. The holding of ritual contests was discussed, the opinion being expressed that so long as the present benzine restrictions were in force there was little chance of the competitions being held. Swimming. Yesterday the Carterton swimming baths were well patronised. Up till the present the revenue received from the baths shows an' increase compared with the coresponding period in previous years, and the indications are for a record season. The caretaker, Mr J. McKenzie, is very 'popular with patrons. 1 Gas Supply to be Cut Off. Gas will be cut off from the gasitworks on Saturday next'between 2.30 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. to enable a safety valve to be installed. Residents are advised not to leave jets or taps open during this period in case of trouble when the gas is again turned on. Personal Items. Mrs W. A. Hart, mother to Major Irvine Hart, of the Middle East Forces, has received word from her son that he had been wounded in the head by shrapnel and that he had been very lucky to suffer no more than scalp injury. When writing he was feeling fit and well. Leading Aircraftman J. Ferguson and his mother, Mrs Ferguson, of Auckland, were the guests of Mr and Mrs J. A. Roberts, of Carrington, for the holidays. Leading Aircraftman Ferguson has left to resume duties at Rongotai. Pte H. Morris, of Ist Ruahine Regiment, has found it necessary to enter the Greytown Hospital for treatment. Mr R. P. Wakelin has been promoted to the rank of major in the New Zealand Forces. REGENT THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. “Chad Hanna,” starring Henry Fonda, Linda Darnell and Dorothy Lamour, which will be screened tonight, is a story of the circus world in glorious technicolour. (Approved for Universal Exhibition).
