HELP FOR PHILIPPINES GIVEN BY PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT. AMERICAN COMMISSIONER’S DECLARATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, December 28. President Roosevelt tonight declared in a radio message to the Philippines: “The entire resources of the United States in men and material stand behind my pledge that your freedom will be redeemed and your independence established and protected.” Mr Roosevelt in his message said: “The people of the United States will never forget what the people of the Philippines are doing this day and will do in the days to come. It is not for me or the people of this country to tell you where your duty lies. We are engaged in a great common cause. I count on every. Philippine man, woman and child to do his duty. We will do ours.”

The Manila radio broadcast an announcement by the United States Commissioner, Mr Francis Sayre, stating! “Help is coming. The help will be of such that it will drive the Japanese from the Philippines.”
