ATTACKS BY DAY

STRONG BRITISH AIR FORCE CROSSES CHANNEL NIGHT RAIDS ON WESTERN GERMANY. MANY FIRES STARTED IN DUSSELDORFF. ' LONDON, December 28. An agency message speaks of considerable activity over the Channel this afternoon, when strong forces of bombers and fighters flew towards the French coast.

Many fires were started in the industrial districts of Dusseldorff last night, when powerful forces of R.A.F. bombers attacked that city and other targets in Western Germany. Other objectives attacked were the naval base at Brest, docks at Boulogne and an aerodrome in occupied Holland. The aerodrome at Sola, in Norway, was also raided and mines were laid in enemy waters. Seven Bomber Command aircraft are missing. An enemy bomber was destroyed last night by the guns of one of our convoys. Neither casualty nor damage was suffered by the ships of the convoy or by its escort. •

Some enemy aircraft crossed the British coast last night, but the damage was slight and no one was seriously injured. i
