ENEMY RAIDS ON MALTA
VERY LITTLE DAMAGE DONE.
AXIS FIGHTER SHOT DOWN.

Malta messages state that late yesterday afternoon enemy bombers, escorted by fighters, crossed the coast, but withdrew without dropping bombs. Last night there were four alerts, when enemy aircraft dropped bombs on land. There was slight civilian damage and two minor casualties. British fighters went up, but no interceptions were made. During yesterday five alerts were sounded. During the first and second, enemy aircraft crossed the coast, but no bombs were dropped. During the third alert, enemy bombers, escorted by fighters, crossed the coast and were engaged by fighters. 'One enemy fighter was destroyed and one damaged. During the'fourth alert, enemy aircraft approached the island but were driven back by our fighters.
A Royal Air ’Force Middle East communique states that enemy aircraft made several raids on Malta on Friday, causing some damage.
