SHARP EARTHQUAKE
FELT IN WELLINGTON.
POSSIBLE SUBMARINE DISTURBANCE.

WELLINGTON, This Day.
Residents of Wellington and the surrounding district felt a very sharp, (hough brief earthquake at 3.41 p.m. yesterday. It was reported that at Paraparaumu a distinct explosive sound was heard cut to sea in the direction of Kapiti Island, this being followed immediately by the earthquake.
The possibility of a submarine disturbance in the vicinity is suggested by those who were in the locality.
A slight jolt only was recorded in Masterton.
