VICTORY TOAST
APPEAL FOR PATRIOTIC FUNDS. COLLECTION OF ENVELOPES AT POST OFFICE. A Dominion-wide radio appeal for funds for members of the New Zealand Forces Overseas under the auspices -of" the National Patriotic Fund Board wag co-ordinated, yesterday afternoon, with' a Victory Toast proposed by the Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C., Dominion president of the N.Z. Returned Services Association and deputy-chairman of the Patriotic Fund Board. The toast was observed particularly well in the Wairarapa. Provision has been made foi' the envelopes, which have been sent to householders foi’ donations, to be placed in boxes in post offices throughout the Dominion. The boxes will remain in the post offices until January 7. Country people have been asked either to bring their donations with them 'when next they come to town, or to post them to the postmaster at the nearest permanent office. The collection boxes will be opened in the presence of the postmaster and one other senior postal officer; the amounts ' collected will be taken to charge by the various postmasters, who will remit them to Wellington to be paid over to the National Patriotic Fund Board for allocation to each provincial patriotic council.
