FEATHERSTON

WOMEN’S WAR SERVICE NET MAKING TO BE UNDERTAKEN (“Times-Age” Special.) At a very well attended meeting of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary, Miss Card was in the chair. Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford explained the aims and objects of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary. Mrs Riddiford referred to the work which had been already carried out in Featherston. The collection of ergot and net making were to be undertaken. The latter work would commence on January 5. Mrs Riddiford was thanked for her address. Miss Card and Mrs Shepherd will be at the Rest Room next Saturday for the purpose of enrolling members. The following net making committee was formed: Mesdames Hunter, R. Skipage, Sharp, Carlyon, Halpin, Wendon, Lawson and Saunders and Miss Esma Card.

Personal Items. Mr and Mrs W. Robinson left yesterday for Levin, where they will spend a holiday. Mrs J. E. Willett is visiting Napier. Christmas Shopping. Local firms report that the Christmas shopping has been good. COSY THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. A story of old California’s most exciting days, “The Mark of Zorro,” with Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell and Basil Rathbone, will be shown tonight. (Recommended by the Censor for adults). The Christmas Day screening will feature Freddie Bartholomew and Mickey Rooney in “Little. Lord Fauntleroy. (Approved for Universal Exhibition).
