TE WHITI

SCHOOL BREAK-UP

PRESENTATION TO MISS HUNTER.

("Times-Age” Special.) The jollity of the plain and fancy dress break-up gathering at Te Whiti school last night was tinged with regret for at the gathering, opportunity was taken to farewell the sole teacher, Miss Hunter. There was a large attendance of district residents. Folk dancing by the children occupied the first half of the programme, following which Mr W. Bradley was M.C. for the dancing. A yodelling item by the two small Reiri brothers was popular. On behalf of the settlers, Mr W. F. Rogers made the presentation of a gold wrist watch to Miss Hunter and expressed the regret of the parents and children at losing a kind and understanding teacher. The music was provided by Mrs Gunderson, Miss Gunderson, Mis Bunny, Mrs Meta and Mr Patrick. The singing of Auld Lang Syne concluded the gathering.
