WAR DECLARATIONS
AGAINST BRITAIN & U.S.A. BY AXIS PUPPET STATES. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) • RUGBY, December 14. The declaration of war by Bulgaria, against Britain and the United States is confirmed by Mr George Earle, the United States Minister to Bulgaria, in a cablegram to the State Department from Sofia. The decision had been taken under the Tripartite Axis Pact, which Bulgaria signed. This declaration brings the number of countries with which Britain is at war to seven. Counting the British Empire as a single unit, 28 countries are now at war. Germany is at war with seventeen nations, Italy with fourteen and Japan w’ith fifteen. Ten Latin American States have taken measures favourable to the Allied cause. A Washington message reports that the State'Department announced that it received a formal notification from the Legation at Bucharest, that Rumania had declared a state of war witfi the United, States, in accordance with the obligations of the Tripartite Pact,
