HOMING PIGEONS

MASTERTON CLUB.

EXCELLENT WIN FOR J. MAYES

The race held by the Masterton Homing Pigeon Club on Saturday from Opua, an airline distance of 410 miles, was won by Mr J. Mayes’s Red Chief, which was the only bird home in race time.-. Although the birds were liberated on Saturday morning no birds were home by 8 p.m., so the race was left open till noon on Sunday. Mr Mayes’s bird arrived at 10.15 a.m. This is an excellent win, and was the second outstanding performance by Red Chief, which has flown well all the season.
