MURDER CHARGE
9 DEATH OF MRS SPEIGHT LOWER COURT HEARING OPENED. SIXTEEN WITNESSES CALLED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., This Day.' In the Magistrate’s Court, before Justices of the Peace, Ronald Herbert Mellar, a surfaceman .aged 24, was charged with murdering Mrs Ida Gwen Speight on November 25. Mr Cooper conducted. the police case and Mr L. G. Sinclair appeared for the accused. There are 15 witnesses to be be heard. The hearing is expected to last all day. There is little public interest in the proceedings.
