PROTECTION FOR NAZIS EMERGENCY MEASURES PROMISED. CAMPAIGN AGAINST JEWS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, December 10. The Vichy radio- states that the French National Council has issued the following statement: “The French Government has decided immediately to introduce emergency measures designed to lead to the discovery of those responsible for assaults on German occupation troops and also the direct and indirect instigators. It has been ascertained that Jews, foreigners and Communists are involved and also Spanish Tchekaites who were dropped in France by parachutes. “It has been decided that all Jews who have entered France since January 1, shall be placed in concentration camps or otherwise taken into custody. A total of 1850 Communists have been arrested in the last few days in unoccupied France. The arrest of Communists will continue. Foreigners suspected of participation in the organisation and commitment of assaults will be tried by court-martial. If convicted they will be sentenced to death.” Tommy guns are being used to shoot Germans in Paris streets, says the “Daily Mail” Madrid correspondent. Shots were fired from a street corner at a patrol searching for curfew breakers on Monday night. Two Germans were killed. The remainder fired back but the assailants escaped. Further bombing incidents occurred in Paris last week. As a result of the military disorgan-
isation since the disasters of last year enormous quantities of tommy guns, machine-guns and grenades have been hidden throughout the country. The Germans fear that when the first German defeats become known the hidden arms will be used against them. Over 150 people have been executed sinew the latest outbreak of attacks on Germans.
