BOWLING

MASTERTON CLUB. CLUB COMPETITIONS. (Notes by “The Bowler.”) I have to remind members that the third round of the champion singles and champion pairs must be completed by Saturday next. The further games played since my last notes appeared are as follow: — Champion 4 singles: Thomas beat Christian, Wehipihana beat Mills, N. Prior beat W. Reid. Champion pairs: Wylie and Beecroft beat Wearne and Wehipihana. New Year Tourney. . The Wairarapa Centre bowling fours tournament will be held on the Masterton Club greens on January 1 and 2, and the finals will be played on January 3. Entries close on Monday, December 29, at 6 p.m. This New Year Tourney has bet.n most popular with the bowlers and I expect to see a large number of entries. The tourney is an open one, and as the Masterton Club greens will accommodate 32 rinks, it will not be necessary for competitors to leave the grounds.

CUP & SHIELD RINKS. The following will represent the Masterton Bowling Club in Booth Cup and Shield matches against Martinborough at Martinborough on Saturday:— Booth Cup: Thomas, Chapman, Hayne, Christian (s); Mills, Hunter, W. Reid, H. Morton (s). Shield: M. Reid, Palamontain, Evans, Carstens (s). . 1 Any player not available is asked to Jr notify the selector, Mr A. Stubbing, as'.7? early as possible.
